Collection: Sewing Courses

Welcome to the Tailored West School of Sewist & Design!

Thank you for expressing interest in sewing education at Tailored West.

You can imagine our excitement as this vision finally takes shape. While our building at 502 Main Street is currently undergoing extensive renovations (it's currently gutted with a lot of construction dust and no lights just yet!), life has taught us that all things happen in the timeframe they should. The wait will be well worth it!

We are officially looking to launch the school in the Fall of 2026.

The Tailored West Difference: Fully Customized Learning

Our opportunity is incredibly broad and entirely customized to your exact personal goals. We limit our class sizes to a maximum of 6 students. This ensures you receive optimum individual attention from your instructor while still benefiting from the questions and shared experiences of your classmates.

Whether you are looking for a creative outlet or a new career path, we cater to all aspirations:

Skill Polishing: Refine and perfect a specific set of sewing skills.

Basic Knowledge: Learn the fundamental basics of sewing for everyday use.

Career & Business Dreams: Prepare to own your own design house one day, or train for a potential future job right here at Tailored West!

Group Learning: Take a course alongside a friend or a private group.

Note: All classes are accredited, organized, highly energetic, and single-mindedly motivated to see you reach YOUR goals while having a wonderful time learning!

Your Enrollment Journey: Step-by-Step

To give you the most tailored education possible, every student goes through a personalized intake process:

1. The Brief Interview

We will sit down for a quick chat to discuss your past experiences and your future sewing goals.

2. Skill & Equipment Assessment

Aptitude Test: You will take a brief, 15-minute aptitude test to help us determine your current skill level.

Show & Tell: We encourage you to bring in any projects you've completed or are currently working on. We want to see your successes and your frustrations alike!

Machine Evaluation: Bring your sewing machine(s) with you! We will examine your machine to ensure it is working properly. Part of our curriculum includes machine troubleshooting skills to ensure you enjoy sewing both in class and at home.

Need Servicing? If we determine your machine requires professional servicing, we can take care of it for you through our exclusive partner service business for a minimum fee of $200.00.

3. Custom Lesson & Budget Planning

Using the knowledge from your interview and assessment, we will discuss your budget and present you with a customized project selection and lesson plan. At this time, we will also establish your class schedule and discuss a payment plan if applicable.

Advanced Career & Business Opportunities

The Tailored West School of Sewist and Design will be a permanent school fixture set up at the back of Tailored West at 502 Main Street, meaning our classes will continue to evolve and run indefinitely. For those looking beyond a hobby, we offer unique career growth:

Business Courses: After three months of periodic classes, students interested in the commercial side of fashion will be offered exclusive business courses. You will learn the hard facts and figures about earning potential based on 42 years of exclusive industry experience in Fashion, Design, Wholesale, Amazon/Online retail, Alterations, Tailoring, Upscaling, Repurposing, Fabric Dying, and more.

Work-Off Tuition Opportunities: Individuals taking multiple courses with a definitive career in mind may be offered the chance to "work off" a portion of their tuition. You would do this by sewing for the official Tailored West production schedule as we push forward in our vision to be primarily an In-House, Made-in-Colorado Design House, selling to the entire Nation.

Next Steps & Frequently Asked Questions

Our next immediate step will be to host an orientation session just as soon as we have a finalized schedule for our building renovation completion.

How can I ask questions?

To keep things organized, answers are not available for questions beyond the scope of this outline. If you have questions regarding these details, please direct them to Nanci via email only at: verene@tailoredwest.com.
